Leaving a place gradually, thoughtfully, and with time to let the mixed emotions settle in my heart is a luxury a traveler like me cannot afford, since I'm always under too much time pressure and on a close-ended schedule.
Arrival, not departure, should be the dominat theme of travel. We are keen to go forth, and forward-exploring, discovering, looking for adventures along the way.
Tickets are not yet bought; however, the decision has been made: we have to go.
